Is responsible for the coordination of all actions within Johnson County which involve preparing for, responding to, recovering from and mitigating the impact of crisis, major emergencies and disasters.

Develops, coordinates, and maintains the county's emergency operations plan, hazard analyses, multi-year development plans and mitigation plan. Is responsible for coordination of mitigation activities in the county. Nick also supervises the Homeland Security planning activities of the department.

Continuity of Government Program - Uncontrollable or unforeseen events can cause an interruption of critical government functions that can cost our county dearly. Johnson County Government delivers many essential services and must be proactive in its planning for any calamity that may occur. In order to do this, Johnson County Emergency Management will be working with county departments to develop business continuity plans to prevent any interruptions in services to its citizens.

Adam is responsible for the development, coordination, and administration of all community preparedness activities including trainings, exercises, education, public presentations, and public information.  These community preparedness functions are designed to prepare local citizens to get ready for emergencies and disasters.  This position will also promote the many programs already performed by Johnson County Departments that help improve the overall preparedness of the county.  By preparing local citizens for all community hazards and promoting these county functions, Johnson County will become more resilient to disasters and truly a Community Prepared.

 

This position specifically oversees the Emergency Preparedness Blog (www.jocoprepared.blogspot.com), the Emergency Prepared Neighborhood Program, the Citizen Corps program as well as Emergency Management interns.

Assistant Director -- Planning & Mitigation (Open)

Responsible to assist with planning efforts including the coordination of homeland security activities in Johnson County. This includes planning for all hazards that impact the county including acts of terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, and mass casualties/fatalities. Responsibilities also entail convening homeland security stakeholders to distribute regional homeland security funds and being the primary coordinator for homeland security capability/needs assessments.
